The culture of socioeconomic class relates to many aspects of our work in health care. This interactive workshop will include activities that illuminate ways in which class acts as a culture and influences interactions and communications. The program will include case studies from health care, and will also focus on health literacy and effective strategies for increasing the health literacy of patients. This cultural competency training is relevant for both rural and urban practitioners throughout our region, as well as those interested in the social sciences or public health. This is a program of the Dartmouth Centers for Health and Aging in the Geisel School and is in partnership with the Southern NH Area Health Education Center.
