Title: "Theoretical investigation of cooperative quantum phenomena in hybrid systems consisting of ultra-cold atoms and a superconducting cavity"

Abstract: The recent realization of a hybrid system based on ultra-cold atoms and superconducting devices, which are coupled via an electromagnetic field, promises the observation of cooperative quantum phenomena. Coherent enhancement, due to a large number of atoms in the cloud, leads to a strong coupling between both subsystems and could enable the occurrence of superradiance. In this Master Thesis, these cooperative quantum phenomena in a decohering environment, in which only the electromagnetic cavity is damped, are investigated theoretically. Superradiance denotes both a strong collective decay of the initially excited atoms due to spontaneous emission and a thermodynamic phase with a non-trivial ground state of a filled electromagnetic cavity and excited atoms. The examination of the connection between these two manifestations and the influence of the cavity damping is the main goal of this Master Thesis. The theoretical examination and the simulation of this phenomenon are presented in the framework of a progress report.
