Objectives – Participants will be able to:

  1. Be able to recognize common non-melanoma skin cancers in clinical practice
  2. Be able to describe the morphology of basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma
  3. Review the different treatment modalities for non-melanoma skin cancer
  4. Review when to refer patients for Mohs vs. other disciplines

Dr. Samie earned his undergraduate degree from Syracuse University, Syracuse, NY and received his MD and PhD from SUNY Upstate Medical University, Syracuse, NY.  He completed his internship in internal medicine at University Hospital, SUNY Upstate Medical University.  He completed his residency in Dermatology at Strong Memorial Hospital, University of Rochester, Rochester, NY; and a fellowship in Mohs micrographic surgery and cutaneous oncology at the Roswell Park Cancer Institute, Buffalo, NY.

Dr. Samie is an expert in the treatment of skin cancer, including Mohs micrographic surgery, reconstructive surgery, and laser surgery.  He is focused on the treatment of patients at high risk for skin cancer, such as solid organ transplant recipients and patients with hereditary skin diseases that predispose them to skin cancers.  He also treats patients with pigmented lesions, and melanoma.
