Objectives – Participants will be able to:

  1. Define the pathophysiology, diagnosis, and epidemiology of Hepatorenal syndrome
  2. Compare available treatment options
  3. Discuss ethical and practical considerations of treatments

Dr. Block received his undergraduate degree from Stanford University and received his MD from the University of California, San Francisco.  He completed his internship in Internal Medicine and his fellowship in the Division of Nephrology & Hypertension at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.  He also completed an Advanced Physician Training in Bioethics program at St. Joseph’s Health Systems, as well as a Mini-fellowship in Geriatrics at Johns Hopkins Division of Geriatric Medicine and Gerontology.

Dr. Block is an attending nephrologist here at DHMC and the nephrology training program director.  Before coming to DHMC in 2000, Dr. Block was in private practice in Northern California.  His academic efforts have been largely in teaching and administration of the fellowship.
