Summertime and the Living is Queasy: Managing Summer Stress Effectively

Feeling a little hot under the collar? Hearing feedback that you, a family member, friend or co-worker is a party-pooper,  or may be using unhealthy coping mechanisms to get through the day? When we are hot and bothered we tend to be more irritable, have less patience, and look to immediate but not necessarily helpful ways to soothe how we feel. We may view ourselves as entitled to unleash our anger onto others, or medicate our frustration with more beer. This presentation, offered by guest speaker and Director of F/EAP, Jim Platt, will offer a brief overview of how heat, stress, alcohol and other less healthy coping vices can collude to produce summertime angst, and strategies to experience the summer proactively—not reactively.

Workshops are free and open to all benefits-eligible employees of Dartmouth College and their adult family members.
