Objectives – Participants will be able to:

  1. Review the 2013 standard of care for various presentations of brain metastasis
  2. Review advances in the understanding of brain metastasis biology
  3. Explore new treatment options for brain metastasis

 

Dr. Ronan is an Assistant Professor of Neurology and of Medicine at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth.  She is also an Associate Professor of Neurology at the Drexel University College of Medicine.  Dr. Ronan received her MD from the University of Pittsburgh Medical School and completed her Internal Medicine Internship at the St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Department of Internal Medicine.  She completed her Neurology residency at the University of Michigan, Department of Neurology, where she also served as a Chief Resident.  Dr. Ronan then completed her Neuro-Oncology fellowship at the University of Texas, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.  She became a faculty member at Drexel University College of Medicine in 2001 as an Assistant Professor of Neurology and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2007.

Her interests include primary brain tumors, decision making in brain tumors, brain and leptomeningeal metastatic disease, paraneoplastic disorders and neuro-immunology.  She has been an active and funded investigator, has lectured widely and has published numerous book chapters and peer-reviewed articles in the medical literature.  Topics of considerable interest include multiple sclerosis, combination chemotherapy in CNS lymphoma, oligodendrogliomas, astrocytoma, and cerebral metastasis.
