Objectives – Participants will be able to:

  1. Review the challenges to effective health care delivery in Rwanda
  2. Describe a novel model for international partnership and Dartmouth’s role in rebuilding the health education infrastructure and health care workforce in Rwanda to create a high quality, sustainable health care system
  3. Discuss the impact of Dartmouth faculty in Rwanda’s Human Resources for Health Program and the impact of the program on participating faculty

 

Lisa V. Adams, MD received her medical degree from the Geisel School of Medicine in 1990.  She completed her Internal Medicine Residency at the Cambridge Hospital/Harvard Medical School in 1993, and was a Chief Medical Resident from 1993 to 1994 at the same institution.  Dr. Adams is the Associate Dean for Global Health and an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Section of Infectious Disease and International Health at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth.

Elizabeth A. Talbot, MD received her medical degree from The Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, University of Medicine and Dentistry of NJ in 1992.  She completed her Internal Medicine Residency at Duke University Medical Center in NC in 1995 and her Infectious Disease Fellowship, Laboratory of Mycobacterial Genetics, also at Duke University Medical Center in 1998.  She is currently an Associate Professor at the Geisel Medical School at Dartmouth.

Laura E. Shevy, MD is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the section of Hospital Medicine at DHMC. She received her MD from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, and completed her Internal Medicine Residency at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque.

Bruce J. Friedman, MD is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the section of cardiology at DHMC.  He received his MD at New York Medical College in 1976.  He completed his Internal Medicine Residency at North Shore University Hospital in NY in 1979.  He also completed his Resident Physician in Nuclear Medicine at Peter Bent Brigham Hospital in MA in 1981, and his Fellowship in Cardiology in at DHMC in 1983.
