Reception to follow at the Top of the Hop

*Free tickets available at athe Hopkins Center Box Office beginning Jan. 15 at noon for those with Dartmouth student, faculty or staff I.D.; beginning Jan. 17 at 10am for the general public. Four-ticket limit per person. Ticket holders must be in their seats by 6:45 pm, after which empty seats become available to those without tickets.

Possessing a B.A. in Speech Communications from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas, and a M.A. degree from the Columbia School of Journalism, John Quiñones has been reporting extensively for ABC News’ programs and platforms. He joined ABC News in June 1982 as a general assignment correspondent based in Miami, providing reports for World News Tonight with Peter Jennings and other ABC News broadcasts.

One of Quiñones’ reports includes going undercover with a hidden camera to reveal how clinics performed unnecessary surgical procedures as part of a major nationwide insurance scam. In another report, Quiñones has traveled to Israel for a CINE Award-winning report on suicide bombers. For the program 20/20, Quiñones covered political and economic turmoil in Argentina and civil war in El Salvador.

Quiñones has won seven national Emmy Awards for his work with the programs Primetime Live, Burning Questions, and 20/20. Quiñones’ other awards include: the Ark Trust Wildlife Award, World  Hunger Media Award, a Gabriel Award, the Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award, First Prize in International Reporting, George Foster Peabody Award, and an ALMA Award.
