"The Cruel Optimism of Asian Futurity:" Focusing primarily on the policy documents of the "Future • Singapore" campaign and Sonny Liew's graphic story collection Malinky Robot, Bahng demonstrates how "the future" has become contested cultural terrain wherein we fight for what to invest in today.
Olivia Scott ’13, Producer, Northern Stage
Scott will focus on presenting and preserving Black American Theater. Specifically, she will examine Lorraine Hansberry’s life and work, pulling excerpts from “To be Young, Gifted, and Black” and “A Raisin in the Sun.”
Dr. Forrester “Woody” Lee ’68, Professor of Medicine (Cardiology); Associate Dean for Multicultural Affairs, Yale School of Medicine
Lee will focus on his research on the history and legacy of African American students at Dartmouth College, as well as talk about his experiences during his time as a student in the 1960s at Dartmouth.
Light refreshments and viewing of Witness: Art and Civil Rights in the Sixties will follow
