Objectives – Participants will be able to:

  • Define the contemporary practice  of Emergency Medicine
  • Describe the differences between EM and traditional specialties
  • Describe the challenges inherent in EM and discuss similar challenges facing traditional specialties

Dr. Tintinalli is Professor and founding Chairman of the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is currently Professor Emeritus in the Department, and is also Adjunct Professor in the Department of Health Policy and Management in the School of Public Health, and Lecturer in Medical Journalism in the School of Journalism and Mass Communications at the University of North Carolina.  She received the MD degree from Wayne State University, and completed residency training and received the MPH from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
