DEN Six to Start a Startup Bootcamp. Session #3 – Product Development with Jack O’Toole, MBA, Tuck ’14, Founder and CEO, FreshAir Sensor Corporation and Drew Matter, MEM, Thayer’15, Vice President of Manufacturing FreshAir Sensor Corporation

Jack O’Toole, MBA, Tuck ’14
Jack O’Toole is founder and CEO of FreshAir Sensor Corporation.  FreshAir’s mission is improving lives through novel sensor technology.  FreshAir has developed sensors (Patent Pending) which detect nicotine and marijuana.  This is the only technology available that can detect airborne concentrations of these chemicals.  The sensors are used in a device that communicates over Wi-Fi to the FreshAir platform.  When smoking is detected the system immediately notifies clients that smoking is taking place in a prohibited area and then generates a time-coded chart of the substance detected, providing scientific proof that unauthorized smoking has occurred.  FreshAir is also working on sensors for industrial chemicals.

Jack is a graduate of the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth and an Eagle Scout from Cape Elizabeth, Maine.  He is a retired Marine who served in specialized and Special Operations units.  While serving in the military Jack was part of a five man team that founded the Marine component of Special Operations Command.  He also served as the COO of a 2,500 person Marine Expeditionary Unit and directed part of the relief efforts following the 2010 earthquakes in Haiti.  Jack and his family live in Hanover, NH.

Drew Matter, MEM, Thayer’15
Drew Matter serves as the vice president of manufacturing for FreshAir Sensor.  He manages the FreshAir product development timeline and the mechanical aspects of device design.  Prior to FreshAir Drew worked as an engineer for NASA Johnson Space Center, where he designed hardware used on spacewalks aboard the Space Shuttle and the International Space Station.  Drew has also worked in manufacturing automation, designing motion control systems and coordinating business development across industries from telecommunications and automotive components to consumer devices.  Drew earned a Mechanical Engineering degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a Master of Engineering Management degree from the Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth.  He also holds a Master of Divinity degree from Westminster Theological Seminary.  Drew and his family live in Hanover, NH.
