Ginetta E. B. Candelario is an Associate Professor of Sociology and Latin American Latina/o Studies at Smith College.  Professor Candelario's research interest is in Dominican identity displays and in the history of Dominican feminist activism. Her teaching has been in the areas of race and ethnicity in the Americas, Latina/o communities in the United States and Latin American and Latina feminisms. Ginetta is the author of Black Behind the Ears: Dominican Racial Identity From Museums to Beauty Shops (Duke University Press, 2007) and editor of Miradas desencadenantes: Los estudios de género en la República Dominicana (Instituto de Tecnología de Santo Domingo, 2005)
