The Outdoor Programs Office will be hosting an introductory session on Sprint Orienteering, April 7th at 4:30pm at Alumni Gym.  The event begins with a 20 minute indoor explanation followed by then the opportunity to do several courses. The North American Orienteering Championships 2016 will be held at Dartmouth on September 23-25 with Sprint Orienteering being one of the events.  Here is your opportunity to find out what it is all about.

(This event is for members of the Dartmouth community).

Orienteering is a navigation race where participants locate a series of checkpoints marked on a map.  There is no marked route, participants go any way they want, selecting for themselves what they believe is the fastest route between all the checkpoints.  While traditional orienteering is usually confined to the forest, sprint orienteering events are held in urban areas, on college campuses or in city parks and it should appeal to anyone who likes outside activity in conjunction with a mental challenge.
