Q&A follows film with director and Montgomery Fellow Thomas Allen Harris.

With his new film, artist Thomas Allen Harris posits that black people in America have mostly been seen through the eyes of white image makers who have infused popular culture with Aunt Jemima, Darkie Toothpaste, Birth of a Nation and more. It's only through the eyes of black photographers that we see differently. Lens is a family memoir, a tribute to unsung artists and a lyrical—at times heartbroken—meditation on imagery and identity. D: Thomas Allen Harris, US, 2014, 93m

This film has just been nominated as a Finalist for a 2016 Peabody Award.
