Introduction by Prof. Noah Isenberg

Although the screwball comedy enjoyed its heyday in the 1930s and '40s, Peter Bogdanovich manages to breathe new life into the genre in his witty, imaginative reworking of Bringing Up Baby. A chance luggage mix-up at the San Francisco Airport between Howard Bannister (Ryan O’Neal), a quirky musicologist with his killjoy fiancée (Madeline Kahn) in tow, and the free-spirited Judy (Barbra Streisand) sends the characters on a wild goose chase through all precincts of the city. D: Peter Bogdanovich, US, 1972, 94m
