Body Politics: Women, Families, and Reproductive Rights will bring together a distinguished group of legal scholars, women's and family rights activists, and community members on the 40th anniversary of Roe v. Wade to highlight its historical significance and discuss the pressing health and family planning issues families face in the US.

Body Politics is made possible thanks to The Katy Lebowitz 1976 Academic Enrichment Fund. Katy devoted much of her life to supporting women's rights. She was a proud member of Dartmouth College's first class of women to be admitted to the formerly all-male institution in 1972. As a student, she pursued coursework in Mathematics and Government and graduated magna cum laude in 1976. Following graduation, Katy worked for the State Department and organized the first International Women's Year conference in Houston. She received her law degree in 1980 from the University of California, Berkeley and worked for the California Abortion Rights League before becoming a tax attorney. Her greatest joy in life was raising her three children, Adam, Noah '13, and Hannah with husband and Dartmouth classmate David Lockard '76, P'13. In 2006, Katy lost her courageous and lengthy battle with breast cancer. To honor Katy, David established The Katy Lebowitz 1976 Academic Enrichment Fund in October 2012.
