Want to bring your class to the Book Arts Workshop? Over the years, we’ve hosted classes and tailored instruction for many departments and their projects, from one-off sessions to an entire term.
Workshops For All Abilities and Skill Levels
Join us for our special events and workshops. Each session includes full use of equipment and materials.
In light of increasing material costs, some programs and events will require a materials or registration fee. If required, you'll see this noted on the sign-up form.

Open Studio Hours
Welcome to Open Studio: your creative destination to consult on a project, set type, make a book, card, or other paper-based item at Dartmouth! No registration for Open Studio Hours is necessary—just drop in.
Letterpress Studio
Want to design and create with Letterpress? Attend a Letterpress Orientation session first to use this workspace during Open Studio hours.
Bindery Studio
We don't require an orientation session for bookbinding. Please note, some book structures suit beginners, taking less time than others.
Have a specific project in mind? Email us ahead of time so we can prep and have materials and resources ready for you.
Story Booth

Read other's words, or write your own, in the Story Booth!
In this repurposed phone booth located near the Book Arts Workshop, you'll find a 1957 Hermes Baby Typewriter for you to type whatever you like. You can also leave your writing for future visitors on the corkboards lining the booth's walls. We hope you enjoy reading writing shared by those who stopped by the Story Booth.
