How do I login to RAPPORT?
To login to RAPPORT, you need a Dartmouth NetID (Dartmouth number) and a password. This is the password you use to access your Dartmouth email.
- If you are a student and can't login, email CPHS@dartmouth.edu with your NetID.
- If you have a sponsored account and can't login, email CPHS@dartmouth.edu with your NetID.
- If you don't know your NetID, you can look it up here.
- If you don't know your Dartmouth password, you can reset it here.
- If you don't know the answer to your password reset questions, email help@dartmouth.edu
- If you don't have a NetID, email CPHS@dartmouth.edu. You will have to complete a sponsored account application to access RAPPORT.
How do I add a Study Team Member to RAPPORT?
- A modification through RAPPORT is required to add a study team member to a study.
- If your study team member needs to be listed on your study team in RAPPORT, but you can't select their name from the drop down list under the study team member section, email CPHS@dartmouth.edu with their name, email, and the organization they are affiliated with (e.g. DHMC).
- To add External Study Team Members, please complete the External Study Team Member Form and upload to the External Study Team Member section of the Study Team Member page of RAPPORT.
How do I add a Funding Source to RAPPORT?
Email CPHS@dartmouth.edu with the funding source. Note: Funding sources are sorted by their full name. To search on a funding source by acronym, insert a % before the acronym (e.g. %NIH)
Who Should Be the PI on a Student Project?
The primary faculty advisor should be listed as the primary investigator on the Basic Information Page of the SmartForm. Students should be listed as Student Investigator on the Study Team Member page of the SmartForm.
What are Ancillary Reviews?
Ancillary reviews in RAPPORT allow departments, individuals, or organizations to complete a review of a study within RAPPORT. They also can be used to track departmental, scientific, or organizational reviews that occur outside of RAPPORT.
To complete the ancillary review, please use the Department/Scientific Review Form. The departmental review must be completed by the researcher's Department Chair or designee for Department Chair. The scientific review may be completed by the Department Chair or an reviewer with the appropriate expertise in the area the research is being conducted who is not a study team member.
Who must apply for human subjects review through CPHS?
The CPHS is the reviewing Committee for researchers affiliated with Dartmouth College. Review is required by the CPHS prior to initiation of the project whether or not a funding source is available. This applies to ALL research involving people including but not limited to social science and behavioral. If in doubt, contact the CPHS office. Is CPHS review required only if the project has funding?
Any research study involving human subjects must be submitted to the CPHS, regardless of funding.

Research is defined as a systematic investigation designed to develop or contribute to generalizable knowledge.
What are the responsibilities of researchers?
- To conduct research according to ethical principles, federal regulations, and internal procedures.
- To ensure participants are informed prior to enrollment and that communication continues throughout the study.
- To protect the rights and welfare of human research participants.
- To keep Co-investigators and all research staff informed about the nature and goals of the project.
- To obtain CPHS approval for revisions prior to initiation.
- To report progress in a continuing review of approved research to the CPHS Office at least once a year.
- To report to the CPHS any serious injuries or other unanticipated problems involving risks to participants or others.
