Dartmouth College is located in Hanover, New Hampshire.
Residential Housing Information
Parking- Please note parking at the Dartmouth Campus is very limited. Personal cars or rental cars are not necessary for on-campus transportation. Activities, downtown Hanover, and housing are within walking distance.
If you bring a vehicle, outdoor parking passes are available. The lots are located within a 10 minute walk of most locations.
Passes are not available for non program participants. There are metered spaces in town and a parking garage on Lebanon St.
Other On Campus Needs
Gym Passes - To purchase day passes to Alumni Gym please contact your summer program intern.
Mail/UPS is the responsibility of the program coordinator. No deliveries are accepted in the Conferences and Events offices. There is a UPS store in the True Value Hardware on South Street and the Post Office is located on the corner of Lebanon and Main Streets.
Cell Phones - Hanover is located on the New Hampshire side of the Connecticut River Valley between the Green Mountains of Vermont and the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Because of this, cell phone reception can be limited in Hanover. Please remember to bring your cell phone charger and adapters (international travelers should bring US compatible plugs).
Computing Facilities and Internet Access - Dartmouth College provides each room with free high-speed Internet service; you need your own laptop computer with wireless access capabilities to access the service. Guests should connect to the Dartmouth Public Wireless Network (SSID). No authentication will be required; you will be routed to a public ISP for access to the Internet.
Campus libraries and other campus facilities are equipped with computers and Internet connections. However, because printers, fax machines and copiers are few and far between on campus and in town, we recommend that you do not try to maintain your office routine while attending the institute.
Weather in Hanover - Daytime and overnight temperatures in Hanover can vary drastically. The local forecast is provided by the Fairbanks Museum in St. Johnsbury, VT. Be certain to bring a coat and comfortable, waterproof walking shoes or sneakers. A sweater or wrap is also recommended.
