From John Ledyard’s Trip to the Sea down the Connecticut River in 1772, to more recent source-to-sea expeditions down the Rio Grande, around the Sea of Japan, and through Tibet’s legendary Tsangpo Gorge, Dartmouth students and alumni have been at the forefront of the exploration of the world’s rivers and oceans. They’ve faced unpredictable environments, where the chance of failure is high, and the challenge is real. Yet they press on.

Why? Because through outdoor adventures, they developed the courage to take risks, the perspective and self-awareness to lead others, and the wisdom to apply these lessons to real-world challenges – from climate change to immigration, to global health and politics.

Come hear stories of adventure from some of Dartmouth’s greatest explorers. And learn how you can join the great Dartmouth tradition of exploration, adventure, and leadership.
