Futures Institute Book Talks

The following Futures Institute-sponsored book talks were presented during the spring of 2022.

The third and final book talk features a conversation between Professor Israel Reyes (Embodied Economies: Diaspora and Transcultural Capital in Latinx Caribbean Fiction and Theater, Rutgers University Press, 2022) and Professor Ralph E. Rodriguez (Latinx Literature Unbound: Undoing Ethnic Expectation, Fordham University Press, 2018).

The second talk of the series features a conversation between Professor Colleen Glenney Boggs (Patriotism by Proxy: The Civil War Draft and the Cultural Formation of Citizen-Soldiers, 1863-1865, Oxford University Press, 2020) and Professor Travis Foster (Genre and White Supremacy in the Postemancipation United States, Oxford University Press, 2019), who was a participant in Professor Boggs’s 2010 Futures Institute seminar.

The series opens a public forum for the discussion of books recently published by Futures Institute alums and the Future Institute faculty member who directed their workshop-seminars. The opening event features a conversation between Professor Soyica Diggs Colbert (Radical Vision: A Biography of Lorraine Hansberry, Yale 2021) and Professor Julius B. Fleming, Jr. (Black Patience: Performance, Civil Rights, and the Unfinished Project of Emancipation, NYU 2021), who was a participant in Professor Colbert’s 2013 seminar.
