Charlotte Bacon
Associate Provost for Research Development and Alliances
Charlotte Bacon, Associate Provost for Research Development and Alliances, has worked
at Dartmouth since 2017. Charlotte helps support multi-investigator grants across
the institution, working as well to sustain relationships with institutions across
the region and the country. Over the last seven years, she has guided proposals from
over 40 departments and has built GPS to include expertise in biomedical, engineering,
and humanities and arts research. This effort has resulted in grants from NSF, NIH,
NEH, DOE, DoD, as well as the ACLS, the Guggenheim Foundation, and the National Archives.
A graduate of Harvard College and Columbia University, she was tenured in the English
Department of the University of New Hampshire and served as Executive Director of
the Maine-Wabanaki Truth and Reconciliation Commission. Charlotte has also published
five works of fiction and has won the PEN/Hemingway Prize, as well as fellowships
from the Guggenheim Foundation, the NEA, and the Cullman Center for Scholars and Writers
at the New York Public Library.
