Guidelines for Publication Permission
If you are seeking permission to reproduce an image, please consult the following guidelines:
- For materials in the collection no longer under copyright, reproductions can be used freely without permission from Dartmouth College or the Library.
- For materials in the collection where the copyright is owned by Dartmouth College, obtain permission and licensing through the Office of General Counsel.
- For materials in the collection where the copyright is owned by an entity other than Dartmouth College, request permission from the copyright holder.
In all situations, please provide the credit line “Courtesy Dartmouth Libraries.”
The Dartmouth Library believes all materials in the public domain should be freely available for use. Permission requests for use of materials still under copyright should always be directed to the copyright owner. Our Copyright Information webpage contains additional information on displaying, reproducing, or publishing copies of items from the collection.
