We're excited to share the Wednesday, September 4 arrival/move-in schedule with you.

Throughout the day, there will be several events for families and supporters, including A Dartmouth Welcome!!.

While we know that not all families and supporters can join their student for arrival, we hope those of you on campus on September 4 will stop by and say "hi" at the programs listed below.

For those students arriving on Sunday, September 8: see the schedule below - we can't wait to welcome you on that day!

Wednesday, September 4, 2024

9:00 A.M. – 2:00 P.M. 

Orientation Check-In, ID and Key Pick-Up, and House Community Welcome for Students Participating in First-Year Trips | Massachusetts Row

Each student has an assigned time. Please check-in at the assigned time - not earlier - so the day flows smoothly for everyone.

All students arriving on September 4 must check in at Massachusetts Row to receive their Dartmouth ID, room key, and New Student Orientation packet. Leadership from the six House Communities will be welcoming students. All students will then be directed to their residence hall where members of the Dartmouth community will help unload cars and direct families and supporters to parking.

If you arrive between 2:00 p.m. and 4:30 p.m., check-in at the Undergraduate Housing Office in Robinson Hall then go to Campus Billing and DartCard Services (103 McNutt Hall) to pick up your ID Card. 

Students who arrive after 4:30 p.m. should go to Safety and Security (5 Rope Ferry Road, 603-646-4000) to pick up their room key. Keys will be back in the Undergraduate Housing Office in Robinson Hall at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 5.

If you are unable to pick up your Dartmouth ID card on September 4, please go to the Campus Billing and DartCard Services Office at Room 103 in McNutt Hall on Thursday, September 5; hours are 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

You must submit a photo to receive a Dartmouth ID card.

Collis Hospitality Lounge | Collis Student Center

Visit the Lounge for beverages and light refreshments throughout the day. Take a break from move-in and meet other families and supporters. Get answers to questions or grab a Dartmouth welcome bag, campus map, and a schedule for the day.

Hinman Mail Center open for package pick-up with Dartmouth ID | Class of 1953 Commons

Please note: you need your Dartmouth ID to pick up packages and you will not get that ID until your assigned arrival/check-in time on September 4.

Sustainable Moving Sale Next to House Center B

The Sustainability Office has curated an amazing selection of used dorm room essentials. Explore two storage containers brimming with mini-refrigerators, mirrors, plastic storage bins, shelves, and much more, all available for purchase. The storage containers will also be open from Thursday, September 5 to Tuesday, September 17. Dash payments only via your Dartmouth ID – no cash or credit.

First come, first served! Please note: if you arrive on campus early for the sale, you need to wait for your assigned arrival time to check-in with Undergraduate Housing and get your room key.

Join student tour guides for a 75-minute campus tour. Spots are limited; registration required and will be available at 9:00 a.m. on September 4 at the Collis Hospitality Lounge! You won't be able to sign-up until then!

Lunch for Families, Supporters, and Students | Class of 1953 Commons

All are welcome! Students should use their Dartmouth ID to “swipe” for lunch if you have already received your ID (your first “swipe”!). Families/supporters: there is no charge for lunch. Students: if you haven't received your Dartmouth ID yet, no worries - there is no charge for your lunch.

12:00 P.M. – 2:30 P.M

Family and Supporter Open House | Class of 1953 Commons

Please stop by to meet several campus departments – including Health Services, Safety and Security, the Undergraduate Deans Office, and others. Ask questions about some key aspects of your student’s Dartmouth experience. We will have a list of represented departments available at the Collis Hospitality Lounge.

4:00 P.M.

Students gather with their residence hall floors to walk to A Dartmouth Welcome!! where they will sit with their House Community.

Families and supporters will sit separately so should say “goodbye” before 4:00 P.M.

No later than 4:00 P.M.

Time for Families and Supporters to Say Goodbye!

Students will say goodbye and join their classmates as the great Class of 2028. Following A Dartmouth Welcome!!, their first Orientation program begins at 5:30 p.m. - it will be a busy evening!

4:30 P.M. - 5:15 p.m.

A Dartmouth Welcome!! | Memorial Field (live-streamed and recorded)
This program is rain or shine.
In the event of severe weather, we will announce a change in program time, location, and format.

College leadership and our House Communities look forward to welcoming you with brief remarks and an opportunity to watch new students begin Orientation as they process to their First Meeting of the Class.

Students will sit with their House Communities. Families and supporters will sit separately.

This event will be live-streamed, recorded, and posted online so you will be able to watch it later if you are not on campus today or need to leave before this time.

5:30 P.M.

New Student Orientation Begins for Students On Campus

Students will join their classmates as the great Class of 2028. Their first event begins at 5:30 p.m. with upper-level student leaders (livestreamed and recorded for students arriving on September 8), followed by dinner and meetings with residential floors and Undergraduate Advisors (UGAs).
