2019 Comprehensive Evaluation
Dartmouth's Comprehensive Evaluation by the New England Commission of Higher Education (formerly the Commission on Institutions of Higher Education of the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, Inc.) took place during the 2019-2020 academic year. Our last Comprehensive Evaluation was in 2010 and our last interim report was in 2015.
The Comprehensive Evaluation had three primary components: 1) Institutional self-study, 2) Evaluation Team Visit, and 3) Review and decision by NECHE.
Institutional Self-Study
The self-study is a written narrative where Dartmouth reflects on how well we currently meet the Commission's Standards for Accreditation and makes realistic and specific projections for improvement. An Implementation Group comprised of faculty and administrators drafted the narrative and engaged community members through the process.
Evaluation Team Visit
A team of faculty and administrators from peer institutions, selected by NECHE, conducted an on-campus evaluation October 27-30, 2019. The team provided an external perspective on our self-study and how well we met the Standards for Accreditation in light of our mission.
Review and Decision by NECHE
NECHE reviewed our self-study and the evaluation team's final report and held a March meeting with President Hanlon. As of May 15, 2020 Dartmouth has been successfully reaccredited.
