A graduate of Smith College and UMass Amherst, Sally Maynard had family connections to Dartmouth that included her late husband Henry Frechette'41, three of her six children, and two grandchildren.
LEADING THE WAYAs the first female member of the Board of Trustees, Maynard helped see Dartmouth through a crucial decade of change, serving from 1979 to 1989.
MAKING A MARKMaynard held leadership positions at many philanthropic, educational, and service organizations, including a successful tenure as president of the New Hampshire School Board Association. The numerous awards she received for her work illustrate the tremendous impact she made on communities throughout the State of New Hampshire.
IN HER OWN WORDSOf her time as the only female member on the Board: "I suppose that when I spoke, they looked at me as representing a woman's viewpoint, but I always contended that... I could not speak for all women because not all women speak with the same voice." |
