As director of the Dickey Center's Institute of Arctic Studies, Virginia's work has been so influential that Antarctica's Virginia Valley is named after him.
IMPACT ON DARTMOUTHWithin four years of arriving at Dartmouth, Virginia worked to advance Environmental Studies from a certificate to a major program. More recently, Virginia secured a prestigious IGERT grant from the National Science Foundation.
IN HIS OWN WORDS"I can have some bearing on the productivity and the output of all these students," Virginia says. "That's what I love about Dartmouth. Every one of my students is doing something very cool, and I can see a little piece that I was engaged with." |
