Commencement Housing

The Residential Operations office is pleased to open its residence halls to guests who plan to attend the 2025 Commencement ceremony.  The Commencement and Reunion Housing Office will open on January 6, 2025. The Online Housing application will close at 11:59 PM on April 7, 2025.

Occupancy Dates

Rooms for Commencement guests will be available for occupancy after 2 pm on Friday, June 13.
Checkout time for guests is by 2 pm on Sunday, June 15.

Due to the large number of guests staying in the residence halls during this time, we cannot accommodate early arrivals or late departures. If you need to stay an extra day, you must make alternative housing arrangements. Information about off-campus accommodations in and around Hanover can be found elsewhere on the Dartmouth College website. You may also call the Hanover Chamber of Commerce.

Rates and Applications

Commencement guests are invited to stay in College residence halls. As undergraduate residences, these spaces do not offer the amenities found in a hotel, but their convenience to on-campus events makes them popular housing options. Commencement Online Housing application is available by selecting this link.

The nightly rate for Commencement guests is approximately $65.00 per person. The deadline for submitting applications is April 7. Guests whose applications are submitted after the application deadline will be housed only if space is available.

Payment

The online application accepts payment using MasterCard, Visa, American Express or electronic check. Children under the age of two are free.

Applications will be accepted beginning January 6, 2025.

Personal Requests

There is a section of the online application for individual requests. Examples might include a request for a handicapped accessible room, or a first floor room.

Accessibility

Several of the buildings available for Commencement housing have accessible first floor rooms, and a few have elevator access to all floors. Service animals accompanying guests with disabilities are welcome in the residence halls. Accessible accommodations can be requested in the Personal Requests section of the online application.

Family Housing

Dartmouth's residence halls have a variety of room types available, many with multiple bedroom units. When possible, these adjoining rooms will be used to accommodate family members or friends who do not require a separate, unconnected bedroom. It is important to fill out the online application with names, ages and relationship(s) of members of your party so we can determine the best housing accommodations.

Pets

Pets, other than service animals, are not allowed in the residence halls.

Check In

When you arrive on campus you may go straight to your assigned residence hall, park temporarily to unload your luggage and check in. There are some residence halls that have parking lots adjacent to the building; as space is allowed you may park there over commencement weekend. Guests arriving before 4 p.m. will want to park in metered spaces if no parking lots are available. Guests arriving after 5 p.m. on Friday or any time over the weekend may use any campus parking lot, including the Dewey lot behind the Life Sciences Center on the corner of Lyme Road and North Park Street, and the Thompson Arena lot on South Park Street. Parking is not permitted in driveways or emergency access areas. See the Visitor Parking website for additional weekday parking information.

We will have attendants in the buildings from 8:00am - 11:00pm each day to assist you with any questions or unexpected needs that may arise.

Residence Hall Accommodations & Amenities

Please remember that the residence hall accommodations, although convenient, do not offer the amenities of a fully staffed hotel. Our staff will work very hard to make your rooms as comfortable and as clean as residence hall rooms can be. Because students will have just vacated the rooms, there will not be enough time to do minor repairs and maintenance. Keep in mind that we do not provide daily maid service, all of our rooms contain single (twin) beds, and the majority of our rooms do not have private baths. Most of our buildings are small and have no more than four floors, and are equipped with television rooms, kitchens, public telephones, floor bathrooms and coin-operated laundry facilities. As part of our services, we do provide linens, a blanket, a pillow, towels, a cup, and a bar of soap for each guest.

Application Deadline/Late Registration

Applications are due on April 7, 2025 at 11:59pm (EDT). Applications submitted after the deadline will be subject to a $10 late fee.

Applications will be accepted beginning January 6, 2025.

Changes to Application

You will receive an e-mail confirmation of your online application once it is submitted. If you need to make changes to the information you submitted, please contact our office by telephone (603-646-3288) or e-mail the Commencement & Reunion Housing Office.

Notification of Assignment

We will begin making housing assignments after the application deadline. Those who apply by the deadline will be housed first and notified of their housing assignments the middle of May.  Assignments for people who apply after the deadline will not begin until all on time applicants are made.  Housing is not guaranteed for people who apply late.  We will make late assignments after all on time assignments are complete. Notification for late applicants who get housing will be after the middle of May.

Cancellation Policy

All cancellations must be made in writing or email. A refund will be made only if your written cancellation is postmarked by May 31, 2025 or your email cancellation is received no later than 11:59 pm (EDT) on May 31, 2025. No refund will be offered if a reservation is canceled after this date.
