Chiu is a social change strategist whose passion for public service and diplomacy ignited while attending Dartmouth.
IMPACT ON DARTMOUTHChiu's service to Dartmouth, first as a student through her leadership of several initiatives and affinity groups and now as an alumna devoted to the students of Dartmouth's future, has helped inspire the community to celebrate diversity while addressing issues of inequality.
LEADING THE WAYDartmouth taught her that to be daring and take the "road less traveled" is often the only way to shift the status quo. She merged her interests in social justice, international affairs, sustainability, and food—she used to out-eat football players in the dining halls—by purchasing the old Big Green Bus and cofounding a nonprofit, Zomppa, to encourage a new generation of healthy and engaged global citizens and eaters.
EXTRA CREDITChiu's stuffed Dartmouth moose traveled with her over 500 miles on foot from France to the edge of Spain...and disappeared. Legend has it that the moose jumped into the ocean at Finesterre, "the end of the world," and was later found by a young Spaniard who now dreams of attending Dartmouth. |
