Friedland's extensive research on the effect of pollution in forest soils has helped make Dartmouth's Environmental Studies Program one of the best in the country.
MAKING A MARKHis pioneering work on air pollution effects on forest soils has received funding from the National Science Foundation, the USDA Forest Service, and the Environmental Protection Agency. In addition to his legacy of soil pollution research, Friedland's recent studies look at the environmental impact of personal choices.
