Susan DeBevoise Wright served in numerous leadership positions on campus and, as President James Wright's wife, was Dartmouth's much-beloved first lady from 1998-2009.
IMPACT ON DARTMOUTHWright made substantial contributions to student life as a class dean and as an advisor to international students, graduate students, and the Phoenix Senior Women's Society. She also directed the Kenneth and Harle Montgomery Endowment, which brought a diverse array of well-known writers, performers, and leaders to campus for intimate discussions with students and faculty.
WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING"I learned from Susan how to take delight in reaching for the improbable goal; how to help others forward in their own careers through connecting them to wise guides. She is one of Dartmouth's bright, shining lights—my most cherished mentor from the College, my abiding friend." —Lane von Herzen '84, author and screenwriter |
