DCARS - Dartmouth Course Approval Routing System is an automated workflow system used by departments and programs to propose new, to update existing, or to reinstate previous undergraduate courses according to Dartmouth's governance structure. See the DCARS Course Approval Flow for reference. Users can see exactly where proposals and updates are in the process, and upon final approval, DCARS writes the course information directly to Banner where it will be available in the Timetable and ORC/Catalog.
DCARS will not support every type of course or curricular change. Curricular changes such as the renumbering of multiple courses in a department or program at one time, changes in requirements for an FSP/LSA or the major or minor, and graduate course proposals each have a unique routing/approval system not supported by DCARS at this time. See the Curricular Guidelines for more information on these types of changes.
