What Happens if I Don't Enroll in Benefits?

You will have 30 days from your date of hire or benefits eligibility to log on to the FlexOnline benefits
enrollment system to make your elections.  If you do not actively make your elections within 30 days, you will not have dental, vision or the child care subsidy benefit. You will not have another opportunity to change your benefits coverage elections until the Open Enrollment period held each fall.

After 30 days, you will be automatically enrolled in a selection of basic level benefits as determined by your employment category:

FACULTY/EXEMPT/NON EXEMPT

Faculty, Exempt Staff and Non-Exempt staff will be automatically enrolled in the following benefits if enrollment is not made within 30 days of benefit eligibility:

  • Medical/Prescription Drug Coverage - Cigna Choice Fund (CCF) Employee Only coverage. Click here to determine cost.
  • Health Reimbursement Account (HRA) - $500 Employer Contribution (prorated based on hire date)
  • Life Insurance - Employer paid basic level $50,000 life insurance and matching AD&D
  • Short-Term Disability Insurance - Employer paid coverage
  • Long-Term Disability Insurance - Employer paid basic level 50% coverage
  • Wellness - Employer paid Pulse Program for employee only
  • Retirement Plan - An employer contribution into an age-appropriate Vanguard Target Date Fund at Fidelity.

SEIU EMPLOYEES

Members of the SEIU union will be automatically enrolled in the following benefits if enrollment is not made within 30 days of benefit eligibility:

  • Health Reimbursement Account (HRA) - $500 Employer Contribution (prorated based on hire date)
  • Life Insurance - 1 year waiting period
  • Short Term Disability Insurance - 90 day waiting period
  • Long-Term Disability Insurance - 3 year waiting period
  • Wellness - Employer paid Pulse Program for employee only
  • Retirement Plan - An employer contribution into an age-appropriate Vanguard Target Date Fund at Fidelity.
